Crihfield joined the Army Reserves in 2003, shortly after the start of the Iraq War. She was deployed to Iraq in 2004, where she served as a military police officer. During her deployment, Crihfield witnessed the horrors of war firsthand, including the death of her close friend and fellow soldier, Sergeant First Class Paul Ray Smith.
After returning home from Iraq, Crihfield struggled to adjust to civilian life. She was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression, and she turned to alcohol and drugs to cope with her pain. However, with the help of therapy and support from her family and friends, Crihfield eventually found her way back to a healthy and fulfilling life.
In The Road In Iraq, Crihfield shares her story with honesty and courage. She writes about the horrors of war, the challenges of coming home, and the long road to recovery. But she also writes about the resilience of the human spirit and the power of hope. The Road In Iraq is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the realities of war and the challenges faced by those who serve.
